Pella’s bowling teams swept Pella Christian to start the new winter season on Monday afternoon in Oskaloosa. The Dutch boys won 2937-2023 and the girls were 1996-1237 victors.
In the boys match, Carter Failor tallied a 248 game and a 475 series, followed by Alex Bishara at 425 and Zander Becker at 414. The 2937 total is a tie for fourth all time at the school for high match score. Head Coach Brian Smith said, “having three boys over 400 in individuals was huge, and were going to put up some more big numbers if they keep that up.”
Taylor Walker and Xavia Walker scored 283 and 268 respectively to lead the Pella girls. Their first Baker game was a 194, which was a new school record for high baker round game. They were just outside the top five in two other team categories. “We had great contributions from our newcomers tonight, so we’re well on our way to some awesome things with this team,” Smith said.
Pella Christian’s boys were paced by a 272 each from Alex Van Gorp and Evan DeJong. The Eagles girls were “shorthanded,” according to Head Coach Rod Blunck. They were led by a 269 from Bella Pu and 235 from Macy VanDerHart.
The Dutch return to action on Monday, December 2nd at Newton against the Cardinals; the Eagles return to Statesmen Lanes against Ballard on Tuesday, December 3rd.
