100+ Men Red Rock made donations to three Knoxville food pantries on Tuesday.
The local non-profit organization presented a check to Celebrate Church Food Pantry, Panther Food Pantry, and Helping Hands Food Pantry. Knoxville’s three food pantries are working together to feed 675 households and 2,569 individuals monthly. The organizations will split the $10,000 gift evenly. Celebrate’s food pantry is designed to supplement people’s incomes to sustain a healthy life. Those served include people who are on fixed incomes, the elderly, homeless, single parents and people that are underemployed. Helping Hands serves 300 families with a total of about 1,300 individuals given food each month. Helping Hands also offers free clothing and household items which people can shop for. Panther Pantry was formed nearly ten years ago, and the only qualification for eligibility is that a family must have children 18 years or younger in the Knoxville Community School District.
100+ Men is a group committed to giving back to the Lake Red Rock area by financially supporting the charitable organizations that serve the Red Rock region. They hold quarterly meetings to support local causes using a simple model: 100+ participating men x $100 contribution = $10,000+ to local charities in the Red Rock region. Since their founding in 2015, they have given over $300,000 back to Red Rock organizations, a milestone that they surpassed in the third quarter of this year. Kevin Stittsworth with 100+ Men says it’s unique for one of their donations to be split between three different organizations, but the three pantries wanted to collaborate for the greater good. Stittsworth encourages the community to support the pantries.
“We’re just honored to be able to support them in that way especially with the holidays coming up. It seems like there is even more need. I just encourage everyone to support these three groups. They’re doing some incredible things. I know they need some volunteers and food donations so I just encourage you to bless them in that way as well.”
