The Jasper County Historical Museum’s 4th Annual Tree-mendous Christmas Opens Saturday. The Museum in Newton is full of over 200 decorated Christmas trees and other Christmas Decorations. Dave Rorabaugh Chairs the special Christmas event. He says it is a big fundraiser for the museum.
“It covers about a third of our operating budget. It replaced those weekends when we would burn people out trying to make $150 to $200 on the weekends. Now we have probably fifty to eighty volunteers who help us make this happen.”
There is no admission charge, but free will donations are accepted. The hours for each Saturday and Sunday between November 30 and December 29 are 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturdays and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. The Tree-mendous Christmas Experience will also be open Christmas Day from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.. The Jasper County Historical Museum is at 1700 South 15th Avenue West in Newton.
