The Pleasantville girls and boys basketball teams defeated Melcher-Dallas Tuesday night in a varsity doubleheader.

The Trojan girls defeated the Saints 61-35. Joelle Johnson led Pleasantville in scoring with 18 points while Emily Roe had 10 and Ryleigh Hardman had 9. For the Saints, Addi Wadle had 17 points while Madison DeJong and Gabby Overgaard both had 6. Melcher-Dallas Coach Kelsey Goff said her team got outrebounded and beat getting back on defense a couple of times. Goff adds that she is confident things will start clicking as they get more games down the road. The Trojans move to 1-1 on the season while the Saints fall to 0-2.

The Trojan boys defeated the Saints 92-31. The Trojans were hot offensively hitting 12 3’s in the game and went into halftime with a 64-21 lead. Braylon Bingham led Pleasantville in scoring with 35 points while Trindon Phipps had 17 and Cash Klootwyk had 15. Pleasantville Coach Taylor Phipps said his team was able to force a lot of turnovers in the contest. The Trojan boys start their season 1-0 while the Saints start 0-1.  The Pleasantville girls will next compete on Thursday at Wayne while the boys will next compete on Friday against Earlham while the Melcher-Dallas girls and boys will be back in action on Thursday against Southeast Warren. 

The Pleasantville girls wrestling team also competed at a quad hosted by Carlisle on Tuesday. Pleasantville fell to Pella 54-6, Perry 58-6, and Carlisle 78-6.
