The First Annual Jasper EMS Impact Conference is being held at the Newton DMACC Campus today and tomorrow. Jasper County Emergency Management Agency Director Jamey Robinson invited all EMS Professionals in the county to attend. He says the two day event features learning, networking, and growth. Members of Unity Point Life Flight & MercyOne Air Med are leading sessions on the latest advancements in emergency medical services. The Emergency Management Agency Director believes most people take having local EMS service for granted.

“It is one of the things that’s overlooked. A lot of people think when they call 9-1-1 they are going to get an ambulance. Here in Jasper County you are going to get an ambulance, but there are places you might not. EMS is not an essential service in the state of Iowa, which is unfortunate. Everyone thinks it is, but it is not.”

Robinson says the local EMS Professionals attending this First Annual Conference earn up to 16 free Continuing Education Units (CEUs).
