The Knoxville Police Department is reminding the community of ways to protect their holiday packages.
It is the time of year where many people see an increase of packages on their door steps from online holiday shopping, and with that increase there are important precautions to remember to make sure the contents of the package make it to their destination. According to the department, packages should be delivered to a P.O. Box or work if the recipient is not home during the day, install a video doorbell to monitor the comings and goings on a porch, and when out of town, have a trusted neighbor or friend grab the packages instead.
It is also a good idea to leave a delivery note for the driver to conceal the package behind a bush or fence.
