The Pella girls wrestling team checked off another program first by scoring the best of seven teams for their first team tournament title. On Tuesday in Norwalk, the Dutch filled 12 of the 14 weight classes. Pella ended up with three champions–Jenna VanWyk, Isabella Smith, and Emma Smith–and four runner-ups–Emma McGraw, Bri Shannon, Kenadi Montgomery, and Elizabeth Thomas.

Head Coach Adam Hale:
“Individually we had a lot of nice moments with Sophie getting her first career win and pin on her first night competing, Isabella avenged a loss from Saturday’s final, Bri made her first finals match, Elizabeth closed the gap on a tough competitor, and Jenna wrestled her way to the first title of her career. There’s a lot of good to take away from the night, and we’ll look to ride that momentum into another great day of practice tomorrow as we continue our busy stretch of competition before break.”
