The Knoxville Community School District has closed on property with Kwik Trip Inc.

The property on the corner of West Pleasant St. and Highway 14 has been officially acquired by the Wisconsin-based company to build a Kwik Star convenience store. The sale of this property was approved last December for $400,000. At a September Knoxville City Council meeting, the site plan was approved for Kwik Star, which includes a retail store, 20 spots for fueling and a car wash.

Kwik Trip stores in Iowa are named Kwik Stars due to branding competition with an already existing company. The Wisconsin-based group has seen rapid growth in the midwest over the last decade, and will also open a store in Pella near the Washington St. and Highway 163 interchange, which is expected to be complete in fall of 2025.
