This coming Monday, December 16th is the sign-up deadline for home-delivered Christmas Day meals through Jasper County Elderly Nutrition. Program Director Kelli Van Manen says the sign up form was sent out two weeks ago.
Jasper County Elderly Nutrition pays MercyOne Newton Medical Center to provide the Christmas Day meal. The cost is $8.00.
“We have had a longstanding agreement with MercyOne. They get paid to provide the meals. We work with volunteers to deliver them to those sixty and older who are homebound.”
Van Manen says 127 Christmas day meals were home-delivered last year.
Jasper County Elderly Nutrition will be closed Tuesday, December 24th, Wednesday December 25th, and Wednesday, January 1st. Extra food will be sent out on Monday, December 23rd and Tuesday, December 31st.
