Twelve new duplexes are beginning to be built in the newest housing subdivision in Newton. Kunkel Construction in Baxter just broke ground for the Home Owner Association Duplexes that are going on lots one through twelve at Arbor Estates Second Addition. 

Another ten lots in this phase of Arbor Estates are designated for “Executive Homes”, with lot prices starting at $65,000. Newton City Administrator Matt Muckler says those have backyards bordering a city park.

“These are larger lots for people. We do have one home under construction there. It’s just east of Cardinal Pond. You have pond views to your west and Agnes Patterson Park views to the east. Just a beautiful location. We think those lots are going to go quick.”

Muckler notes there are a variety of housing options in the Arbor Estates neighborhood in northeast Newton.
