One thing that Knoxville Girls basketball Coach Matt Ritchhart wanted Hannah Dunkin to do this season was get to the free throw line. He wanted Hannah to lead the state in free throws attempts. According to Bound, Dunkin is following her coach’s advice as she is 6th in class 4A in attempts with 47 and 5th in makes at 35, that is good enough for 74% which puts her in the top 40 in class 4A. Ritchhart knows it has been a tough road for H.D. this season, but happy with what he has seen.
Ritchhart: “She’s been face guarded this year, so the spacing she’s had in previous years hasn’t been there, but she has more 3s so that’s good to see. Ultimately we have to figure out how we can improve.”
Dunkin is also chasing the 1,000 career points mark this season. She has scored 69 points this season and has 86 to go before she becomes the sixth in girl during the five-on-five era to reach 1,000 career points. Her quest on that along with free throws will continue this Friday as the Panthers host Pella in the renewal of the Red Rock Rivalry.
