The Norwalk bowling teams return to competition on Monday, January 6, looking to build on momentum from their final meet before the holiday break. Both Warrior squads posted season-best scores in wins over Newton on December 21, the girls totaling 2,234 pins and the boys scoring 2,837.

The Norwalk girls bowlers are 3-1 on the season with wins over Knoxville, Bondurant-Farrar and Newton and a loss to Sigourney-Keota. They have scored a team total of 2,000 pins or more in each meet. The Warriors are led by the senior trio of Julia Palen, Elivia Stout and Anna Curran. Palen, who qualified for state in 2023, leads the team with an individual average of 158.2, followed by Stout’s 148.2 and Curran’s 146.8. Palen and Stout have both rolled a 200 game and Palen has the high two-game series so far with a 340.

The Norwalk boys are 2-2 on the season and have improved their team score with each dual, totaling between 2,398 and 2,837 pins. Sophomore Brytan Bassman leads the Warriors with an average of 213.9, followed by sophomore Gavin Housley (202.8) and junior Tanner Housley (195.9). Sophomore Blake Halsted averaged a 237 in his only meet of the season. Season-high games include Bassman’s 267, Tanner Housley’s 256 and Halsted’s 247. Bassman boasts the high two-game series with a 483.

Norwalk travels to Ames for Monday’s 3:00 p.m. dual against Gilbert at the Perfect Games.
