After a two-week hiatus for Christmas Break, the Pella Christian boys basketball team returns to the court tonight, hosting West Branch in a non-conference game on Eagle Lane.
The Eagles enter 2025 with a 3-3 overall record, after dropping their final three games of 2024 to Norwalk, Des Moines Christian, and Grand View Christian. The Bears come into the new year with a 2-5 overall mark, after wrapping up 2024 by going 1-3 in their final four games. Through their first seven games of the year, West Branch has been led by juniors Jayden Harris and Brandon Pedersen and seniors Brandon Pickett and Nathan Hills. Harris is the lone Bears’ player to average double digits in scoring this season, posting 16.6 points per game to go along with 2.9 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.1 steals a contest. Pickett is the rebounding leader for West Branch through seven games, pulling down 6.3 per outing while also scoring 8.3 points per game. Hills and Pederson are the Bears’ third and fourth leading scorers at 7.9 and 7.0 points per game respectively, and Pederson is also West Branch’s top defensive player with 1.1 steals and blocks per contest.
