The Indianola Fire Department wants to pass along safety information for pedestrians walking outside when winter weather is affecting the area. The fire department says to keep walkways and outside stairs cleared of snow and ice, use ice melt to keep areas ice free, always assume that dark areas of concrete may be slippery when icy conditions exist, and avoid carrying heavy and large loads in your arms if you suspect ice.
