The Newton City Council meeting this coming Monday night will be followed by a city council budget workshop. Newton City Administrator Matt Muckler says budget workshops will follow every city council meeting until the 2025-2026 city budget is adopted.
“So we invite folks, if they want to stay around after the meeting, they can hear about our budget. We are also putting those meetings on our website. So if someone misses them, they can go back and find out what we were talking about.”
City councils have until the end of April to certify the upcoming fiscal year’s budget. Newton’s current city budget has a property tax levy of $17.10. Muckler says the prior seven years, the levy was $17.14.
