The Newton Police Department’s newest officer is beginning his training at the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy today. Officer Cole Plowman is scheduled to graduate from the Academy in late April. He was sworn in as a Newton Police officer by Mayor Evelyn George December 23rd.

Newton Police Chief Rob Burdess says Plowman is a Newton native and a 2023 graduate of Newton High School. He attended Des Moines Area Community College and worked locally before joining the Newton Police Department.
