The Jasper County Board of Supervisors have started the process of simplifying the county’s pay plans.
Board Chairman Brandon Talsma sees three benefits to making the plans more understandable.
“Number one, make it more appetizing to new hires we have coming in by letting them clearly see what they are going to be making in five years. Number two is hopefully getting us to remain competitive with surrounding municipalities and counties.”
The third benefit Talsma sees is long term financial benefits for the county through more managed growth. Talsma feels the current pay plans are out of line with realistic expectations of pay growth. He says some of the county’s pay plans grow as much as seven percent per year. The Jasper County Board of Supervisor Chairman talks about the pay plan modification and other goals for this year on today’s Let’s Talk Newton.
