The Knoxville basketball Squads will head to Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont tonight and there will be two games at different ends of the spectrum. The girls likely play arguably their toughest opponent yet in class 2A #1 ranked Rockets, who have not lost this season and have won their conference games by an average margin of 44.8 points per game. Knoxville comes in struggling after a 53-17 loss to Newton last Saturday. The newly minted class 3A #6 Knoxville boys will face an equally struggling Rockets team, who lost everyone from a conference title squad last year. Until last week, the Panthers had not been challenged, and passed two tests from Little Hawkeye Conference team in Pella and Newton last week. Knoxville has not played since last Saturday, and that does not sit well with Coach Joel Keady, but he credits his guys for being ready to go whenever they play.
Keady: “It’s just how it goes, these guys are young and they recover quickly, and they were ready to play games rather than practice., But credit to them for being ready.”
