The 2025 Iowa Legislative session has begun, with both the House and Senate breaking into committees to introduce bills for discussion. Newly re-elected State Representative Brooke Boden tells KNIA News a topic of discussion will include possible action from the legislature on a report stating Iowa’s cancer rate is second in the country, and is the only state where cancer rates are increasing.

“I do think it is very important for us to be having this discussion since finding out further studies why we are seated at second in the nation. It’s unacceptable, and we have to find some resolution to that. I don’t particularly as a legislator have a plan for how that is going to happen, but I would like to see us address it.”
