The Pella School Board held a public hearing Monday to hear about recommendations made for budget reductions in the upcoming fiscal year.
Three speeches were given and included students, an instructor, and a preschool associate. Those who spoke advocated for saving high school french, nursing instruction, and reduction of associates at the Early Childhood Center — all of which have been listed as recommendations for reduction or removal.
Superintendent Greg Ebeling has recommended nearly $900,000 in cuts for the upcoming fiscal year, following approximately $800,000 in reductions made for the current academic calendar.
A work session will next be held on Monday, January 20th.
