The Norwalk boys wrestlers and the Warrior bowling teams combined for five dual wins on Thursday.

WRESTLING

The Class 3A 11th-ranked Norwalk wrestling team improved their record to 20-3 with three non-conference wins at the Boone quad. The Warriors defeated Woodward-Granger 66-3, Boone 62-14 and ADM 66-6, combining for 16 pins on the night.

Ten Norwalk wrestlers picked up three wins, led by Maksym Rooney-Kozak’s three pins at 157 pounds. Gabriel Colunga, Asaiah Martinez, Madox Ward, Aiden Moret and Kolton Borcherding-Johnson all had two pins. Ward, Moret and Rooney-Kozak were the Warriors’ only 3-0 wrestlers to compete in three matches. Norwalk will compete in the Ankeny Invitational on Saturday.

BOWLING

The Norwalk bowling teams both won competitive duals against Clarke at Air Lanes in Des Moines, posting their second-highest team scores of the season. The Warrior boys won 2,759 to 2,631, improving to 3-4 overall. The girls prevailed by only 72 pins, 2,220-2,128, improving to 5-2. Norwalk will host Pella Christian on Saturday morning back at Air Lanes.

BASKETBALL TONIGHT

The Norwalk basketball teams travel to Oskaloosa tonight for a girl-boy doubleheader at 6:00 p.m. Both Warrior squads are looking to cap a 2-0 week on the road following Tuesday’s wins at Newton. The Class 4A sixth-ranked Norwalk girls are 11-1 overall and 4-1 in Little Hawkeye Conference play. The Norwalk boys are 5-5 overall and 3-2 in the Little Hawkeye.
