The Pleasantville boys basketball team defeated West Central Valley at home Friday night as the girls came up short in a West Central Conference varsity doubleheader.
The Trojan boys defeated the Wildcats 50-42. The Trojans were led in scoring by sophomore Braylon Bingham who had 19 points and saw double digit rebounding from Stanton Major and Braylon Lindsey as Major had 12 boards and Lindsey had 10. Coach Taylor Phipps said his team did not shoot well but they showed a lot of grit and toughness to get the win. The Pleasantville boys basketball team improves to 6-5 overall and 4-4 in conference play.
The Trojan girls fell in their contest to the Wildcats 39-35. Pleasantville was led in scoring by Joelle Johnson who had 26 points. The Trojan girls fall to 9-5 on the season and 4-3 in the conference. The Pleasantville girls and boys basketball teams will be back in action on Tuesday against Van Meter.
The Trojan Girls Wrestling team competed at the Bob Sharp Girls Invitational hosted by Ankeny on Friday. Lizzie Haywood was the lone place winner for the Trojans finishing eighth at 140 pounds. Pleasantville earned seven points as a team. The Trojan girls wrestling team will next compete on Thursday at West Marshall.
