The Newton boys basketball team picked up another non-conference victory Tuesday night at Washington. The Cardinals never trailed in the 64-49 win. After a 15-to-11 first quarter, Newton pulled away in the second quarter to lead 32-17 at halftime. Newton was up by twelve heading into the 4th quarter, and got the lead to twenty at 52-32 with seven minutes left. The Cardinals hit eleven three-point shots. Caden Klein scored 16 points and Landon Bozarth added 15 for Newton. 

The Cardinals are now 5-1 in non-conference games and 7-5 overall. Newton will be back at home this Friday to take on Indianola, a conference team they beat 64-56 in overtime in Indianola on December 6th. Cade Bauer led the Cardinals that night with 17 points, as he went five of ten from the three-point line. The Newton girls game with Indianola will precede the boys game Friday and start at 6 p.m. – both can be heard on the KRLS3 stream.
