
The Indianola boys wrestling team defeated Warren County rival Norwalk Thursday evening 47-17 to earn an undefeated Little Hawkeye Conference title.
The Indians earned wins by fall from Mac Crosson at 138lbs, Ryan Young at 144lbs, Elijah Blewitt at 150lbs, and Aden Snyder at 106lbs to build up the score, with Sawyer Nelson at 120lbs winning by technical fall. The Indians head to Winnetonka High School in MIssouri today for a two-day tournament.
The Indianola boys swimming team fell just shy of Newton in their four-team meet at the Indianola Wellness Campus, placing second with 408 team points just seven behind first place Newton.
The Indians had first place finishes from Ethan Russell in the 50 Freestyle and 100 Freestyle, and second place finishes from Diego Garcia in the 100 Butterfly, Ryan Torrence in the 500 Freestyle, and the 200 Freestyle Relay team of Torrence, Sawyer Massey, Nate Gondek, and Russell. The Indians will jump back into the pool on Tuesday hosting Marshalltown.
The Indianola basketball teams host Newton tonight in a Little Hawkeye Conference doubleheader. The Indians girls will look to sweep the season series, while the boys will try to avenge an early season overtime loss. The games can be heard live on 94.3 KNIA, with Clayton Sampson and Rick Wilson on the call. Pregame coverage begins at 5:45pm, with tipoff at 6.
