Marion County Sheriff Jason Sandholdt was among many Iowans attending the presidential inauguration of Donald Trump last Monday.

Sandholdt said a friend asked him if they could help some people out from northwest Iowa who didn’t have the resources to attend, so they ended up driving them to Washington DC. Sandholdt tells KNIA/KRLS that it was an exciting chance to witness history.  

“I think anytime you can be a part of history no matter what political party you’re with, when a president takes an oath of office it’s an exciting time. Unfortunately in past years, I haven’t had the opportunity to go but this year I was able to and it was a great experience to witness history.”
