The Newton Fire Department is investigating the cause of a fire this morning at Heartland Co-op. A building behind the Co-op at 3785 Highway 14 North is a total loss. Several surrounding communities sent fire department personnel and ambulances to the scene, including Kellogg and Colfax. 

The Newton Fire Department responded to the fire shortly after 7:30 this morning, and had the flames out out in about an hour. Fire Chief Jarrod Wellik says the department will release more information as the investigation continues.
