Coming off her third tournament title of the year, freshman Paige Gershmel has been named the American Rivers Conference Wrestler of the Week.

Gershmel cruised through her bracket at the Grand View open, notching three pins and two technical falls to improve to 30-7 on the year.

Gershmel began the day with a 16-5 technical fall over Grand View’s Shelby Davis. She then posted back-to-back pins to land a match against Wartburg’s Rachel Fode in the semifinals. Gershmel won that match 13-2 and claimed the bracket title by pinning Leighanna Patz of Baker in 1:32.

Simpson’s next competition is the two-day Division III Invitational on Feb. 8-9 in East Moline, Ill. The Storm will then host the NCWWC Region VII Championship on Feb. 22.
