Freezing drizzle may impact the area today, according to the National Weather Service. A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for south central Iowa until 9 p.m.
The best chance for hazardous conditions will be this afternoon and evening, as a thin coat of ice may form on roadways. While accumulations will likely stay below 1/10″, travel may be difficult due to slick roads, especially on those that are untreated. Drizzle may also limit visibility as well.
Those who must drive should exercise caution, especially during the evening commute. Generally cooler conditions will last well into the weekend, with daytime highs around 30 and overnight lows into the teens locally in the forecast.
