Jasper County Engineer Mike Frietsch held the second of his “Ask the Engineer” sessions at his office on Thursday. During these sessions, Frietsch makes himself available at 7 a.m., Noon, and 3 p.m. to meet with residents who want to talk to him. He came up with the “Ask the Engineer” idea after reading social media posts.

“Facebook is a great place for people to express their frustrations. But sometimes what is said and what gets put out there kind of loses control of the message a little bit. So I decided you need to come in here and talk to me directly because sometimes the best way to figure things out is face to face.”

It also gives Frietsch a chance to share information with concerned residents that they may not be aware of.

“Yes I understand their particular situation in front of their house is important to them, and it’s important to me, but there are larger issues that can impact the county that will have a wider and larger scale impact on the county in an adverse manner. We have to keep those things in mind as well.”

Frietsch will have two more “Ask the Engineer” sessions on April 10th and June 12th.
