khs-hall-of-fame-2025

Around 70 people attended the 20th induction ceremony of the Knoxville High School Athletic Hall of Fame on Friday, which took place at the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame.

Among those inducted into this year’s class were Fred Roberts from the class of 1926, Zach Mahoney from the class of 2000, Rick Kaster from the class of 1981, and Brad Davis from the class of 1999. Davis said his high school coach, Dale Holst, who himself is a half of famer, showed him early in his high school career that playing well and having fun were important aspects of the game.

“He demanded that we work hard all of the time, but made it fun. He knew that if you’re going to have a team that you also got along and do things away from the court that was fun and we did activities together and made sure we got along together.”

Davis went on to play college basketball at Iowa State University, where he was a part of the Elite 8 team that lost to eventual National Champion Michigan State in 2000.  There was also an induction ceremony in between the Knoxville and Albia basketball games Friday night, which was broadcast live on 95.3 KNIA.
