For the second straight night, the class 3A 3rd ranked Knoxville Boys basketball Squad scored 66 points but unlike Monday night’s pulse pounding game, the Panthers left little doubt in a 66-48 win over PCM as heard live on 95.3 KNIA. The Panthers got off to another good start racking up 20 points in the 1st quarter, and leading by 15 at halftime. The Mustangs trimmed the lead to nine in the first minute of the 3rd quarter, but Knoxville quickly got the lead back to 14 and the Mustangs came no closer. Landen Norris led a balanced attack with 22 points, 16 from Koby Higginbotham and Lincoln Norris and ten from Drake Larson. Junior Cael Cook, who has played more minutes this season, told KNIA/KRLS Sports it took the entire team to step up in the absence of one of their starters.

Cook: “Come out aggressive, and we had some guys out. Kaiden was gone today, and we just got aggressive and took care of business.”

Knoxville is now 19-0 and has now set the record for the best regular season start in school history. The Panthers will try for their 20th win in as many games Thursday when they head to Bondurant-Farrar. While the boys were gaining bragging rights over Highway 14, the girls traveled to Fairfield and dominated in a 60-29 win over the Trojans. The Panthers led at every stop and stretched the lead for the entire game. Hannah Dunkin scored 22 points while Addy Dunkin contributed 12. Bridgette Liston had another good night with nine, Addi Williams scored eight and Ayla Williams had six. Knoxville ends the regular season at 5-16 and will now prepare for the class 4A regional, which starts next Wednesday.
