The Indianola City Council appointed current councilman Steve Richardson as Indianola Mayor to fill out the term in a unanimous vote.

The council interviewed two candidates that were present for the meeting, including questions regarding their motivations for going after the position, what their goals are, how to help in facilitating budget discussions, transparency in government,

Richardson will fill the term until December 31st, and indicated at the meeting he plans to run for the position this fall.
