The Newton boys basketball team ended the regular season Thursday night, losing at #8 ADM 69-45. The Cardinals got an early 3-2 lead, but went scoreless over the last six minutes of the first quarter and trailed 16-3 after the initial eight minutes of play. In the second quarter, the Tigers only outscored Newton 17-16 for a 33-19 advantage at the half. The Cardinals cut the lead to twelve early in the third quarter, but ADM went on a 10-0 run and led 54-31 going into the final eight minutes. Isaiah Slaughter led Newton with 11 points, while Dawson Maki added nine points and Landon Bozarth and Cade Bauer each had eight points. The 11-10 Cardinals will host 8-14 Boone next Monday night in a Class 3A Substate 7 First Round game at 7 p.m. The game can be heard live on the KRLS3 stream at kniakrls.com with pregame coverage at 6:45 p.m.
