
The Melcher-Dallas Girls basketball Squad faced off against a top ten team in Montezuma on Friday night in the class 1A regional semifinals as the Bravettes soared out of the gates to take control early and win going away 66-26. The Saints were unable to make shots in the 1st half and found themselves down 38-10 at halftime. The onslaught continued in the 3rd quarter when the running clock was invoked with around 3:00 remaining. Saints Coach Kelsey Goff told KNIA Sports it is never easy to end the season, but was proud of her girls for not giving up.
(Goff: “It’s too bad but I was proud of the girls as they kept at it, and didn’t roll over because it could have been a 60 point game instead of 40.”
Kesley Reed led the Saints with 12 points. Melcher-Dallas out rebounded Montezuma 33-28 and Goff said that was one area they wanted to win. Melcher-Dallas ended the season with a 17-6 record.
