Iowa Speedway President Eric Peterson has spent the past several weeks preparing an Economic Development Impact Study on last year’s Nascar and IndyCar race weekends at the track. Peterson recently presented his findings to state lawmakers, mand shared the information with the Newton City Council Monday night.

“The economic impact to the state of Iowa was a little over $100-million. That’s across the board on everyone we brought in for both weekends.”

Last year’s first ever NASCAR race at Iowa Speedway sold out in six days. Peterson says 73% of those ticket holders traveled over 50 miles to attend the race, and 59% were first time NASCAR Race attendees. As for this year’s NASCAR Race at Iowa Speedway on Sunday, August 3rd, Peterson says they are just 1,000 tickets away from another sellout.
