Jasper County District Court Judge Terry Rickers has imposed two simultaneous 25-year prison terms on a 41-year-old Newton woman accused of selling methamphetamine. Newton Police arrested Heather Lynn Henning on February 5th, 2024 during a traffic stop for a non-functioning rear license plate light and failure to come to a complete stop at a stop sign. A Newton K-9 alerted police to the possible presence of drugs in Henning’s vehicle, and the police report states a search turned up 18.6 grams of methamphetamine, marijuana, two sets of scales, and packaging material. Henning’s East 14th Street North home was also searched on November 8th, 2024 as part of a Newton Police investigation involving the delivery of methamphetamine. Officers reported recovering 34 grams of methamphetamine, marijuana, and THC wax, vape cartridges, and gummies.

Henning pleaded guilty to conspiracy with intent to manufacture or deliver over 5 grams of methamphetamine, a Class B felony, and a Class B Felony possession of a controlled substance charge.

Her sentence also includes two $5,000 fines.
