The City of Knoxville wrapped up their annual budget presentations on Monday night.

The  presentations started on January 20th and broke down the annual fiscal year budget for each department, provided the council and public with information regarding spending, and if there were any changes coming or big projects on the horizon that will be funded. The council also heard a budget overview presentation for the entire FY26 budget with some highlights of the upcoming fiscal year budget, including $22.6 Million in property valuation growth, city mill levy staying the same, addition of $182,000 to the general fund reserves, construction of a public safety/city hall facility, and parks and rec equipment and facility upgrades. City Manager Heather Ussery says public hearings are the next step to get the proposed budget approved.

“We’ll have two public hearings as we move forward. On April 7th at 5:30 pm we have a public hearing which is approving our property tax levies. This is a new meeting that is required by the State Department of Management and then that will be followed by our regular meeting at 6:15 on April 7th. Our final meeting and public hearing will be on April 21st and that is when the council adopts the full budget for the upcoming year.”
