The City of Knoxville will hold a free leaf and yard waste collection day on Saturday and Sunday.
The collection will take place at the Knoxville Street Shop located at 309 W Reno St. from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm on Saturday and from Noon – 4:00 pm on Sunday. Only regular residential yard waste will be accepted including twigs, shrubbery, branches, leaves, and tree trimmings; and limbs must be three feet or less and be easily able to be carried by one person. Materials not accepted include dirt, rock, gravel, litter, and tree stumps. Plastic bags will not be accepted and leaves must be placed in paper lawn bags. Knoxville Mayor Brian Hatch says this is an effort to help provide citizens a way to clean up their own area and to beautify Knoxville.
“This is just another effort to clean up the area, to make Knoxville look as nice as possible. We know some people don’t have those means to get brush removed, tree limbs, they may not have a way to haul them somewhere. This isn’t the perfect scenario but we at least try and offer this once a year at a location where people can bring those things.”
If there is inclement weather, the collection will be rescheduled.
