The Lady Dutch frustrated the Knoxville offense all night and Pella earned a birth in round 2 of the Class 3A Regional Tournament Wednesday night with a 47-26 victory.
Pella held Knoxville to just 6 first half points in a game heard live on 92.1FM KRLS, AM 1320 KNIA and kniakrls.com. Neither team found the stroke on the offensive end, but Pella’s defense forced numerous turnovers to help secure the victory.
The second half was more competitive, but the 13 point halftime deficit proved to be too much for the Panthers to claw back from.
Alex Abens had a game-high 16 points for Knoxville. Pella was led by Makenzie Vander Molen’s 10 points, Kelsey Fynaardt added 9.
With the win, Pella moves on to host Carlisle on Saturday night in round 2 of the Regional Tournament. Carlisle defeated Chariton on Wednesday night, 42-37.
