The Knoxville Parks Commission is asking residents to come help clean up Edwards Park this Saturday. Pennie Sommar and Dick Reed, both members of the Parks Commission, say that the cleanup starts at 7 in the morning, and will run until close to two. Some people have already been doing preliminary work during the week, clearing out many of the weeds and much of the poison ivy. Reed says that the park is important for the neighborhood, and it should be kept up nicely. He says he can imagine ice skating taking place on the pond during the winter. He adds that even if you could stop out for just an hour, it’d be very helpful.
