Overcoming a late-game rally, the Pella baseball team was able to battle back and secure a 7-5 victory over South Tama on Friday night.
The Little Dutch had 11 hits, and jumped out to a quick 5-0 advantage, but the Trojans hung a five-run inning on the board in the fifth inning.
Determined not to let the win slip away, Pella added two more runs of their own in the top of the seventh, then played strong defense behind winning pitcher Brett Kingery to preserve the victory.
Trevor Wood and Jacob Gleason led the Little Dutch on offense, each going 3-for-4 at the plate, with Gleason tallying a pair of RBIs.
The Pella baseball team is now 11-12 overall and 8-7 in the Little Hawkeye Conference, with Grinnell up next on the schedule.
