The Knoxville City Council met in regular session yesterday evening. One point of discussion was about the engineering services for the Knoxville Recreation Center. Brandon Nemmers, the director of the Rec Center, had secured a bid for $22,500 to perform these services, 6-7. The Council discussed that they were interested in sending out a project like this out for open bidding. The Council agreed that by accepting the current bid for the Rec Center, they would be able to get more work done by the end of the year. They felt that $22,500 was a fair price. Public Works Director Jeff May said that he had an upcoming project he was preparing that would be used for open bidding of engineering services. The Council also approved resolutions to receive bids for a new boiler for City Hall and for the City Hall Tuck Pointing project, and they approved reimbursing the vehicle relocation costs for new City Manager Harold Stewart.
