Democrat Iowa Senator Tom Harkin has announced that the Low Rent Housing Agency of Knoxville will be among 48 Iowa Public Housing Agencies to receive funding from the Development of Housing and Urban Development. Knoxville will receive over $68,000. The money comes from the Capital Fund Program, which provides for financing, development, and improvement of public housing across the country. Harkin says that he think access to quality housing is the foundation of economic stability, and that this funding will give Iowa a needed shot in the arm in these tough economic time.
