The Blank Children’s Hospital Fire Safety House is coming to Knoxville later this year. The Knoxville Rural Fire Department will be hosting the house on May 19th from 12:30 to 4pm. Trained volunteers and members of the Knoxville Rural Fire Department will be using the fire safety house to offer hands-on opportunities for children to learn what to do in case of a fire. The fire safety house has already taught many families in the area how to recognize fire hazards and get out alive. Nationally each year, about 500 children age 14 and younger die in residential fires, and another 40,000 are injured.
