Helping Hands in Knoxville are open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 1-3pm for produce distribution. Food Days will continue to be held on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month, the next food distribution day will be April 13th. A new option will be pick-up of food bags at the back door of the pantry (110 W. Main). Enter the alley (1/2-block south of Main) from First Street and drive westbound. People wanting food must simply tell the volunteer at the door their last name, the number of people in their household, and their zip code. This drive-thru approach is the procedure recommended by Food Bank of Iowa, with which Helping Hands partners for most of its food. Because Coronavirus can be transmitted through hard surfaces, Helping Hands has suspended the collection and distribution of clothing and household items until further notice. Helping Hands will accept donations of hand sanitizer and toilet paper. If you have questions regarding Helping Hands, please call 641-842-6933.
