It is senior night along Panther Drive tonight as the Knoxville boys and girls of summer host Clarke. The baseball squad not only will honor the seven seniors on this summer’s squad, but try to close out an unbeaten South Central Conference season. Class 3A #6 Knoxville already has clinched the outright title, but an unbeaten conference record is now on the table. Panthers Coach Turner Devore, knowing the sub-state is not far off, wants his guys to start playing better and tonight it can start completing a sweep of the conference slate.
Devore: “We knew we had to take care of that first, and flip the page. We have around 2 weeks until postseason starts, and we need to get better at some things before postseason start and that start with these next two weeks.”
Across the way on Panther Drive it is also senior night for the Girls of summer and they need a win in the worst way, falling in their last two games by a combined 17-0. After having Wednesday off, Coach Carla Smith hopes her players return to the diamond with a renewed focus and look to close out the regular season with two tough conference games this week. You can hear the nightcap of the baseball double header live on 95.3 KNIA beginning at 7:15 with score updates from the softball game.
